Why Choose An Apprenticeship?

Kickstart your career with an apprenticeship and earn as you learn.

Across North Wales and beyond, companies are recruiting for apprenticeships and training people in the skills they need to succeed in their career.

As an apprentice you will earn whilst you learn, gaining skills, knowledge, experience and recognised qualifications along the way. Whether you’re aged between 16 and 19 or 20 and over, a range of apprenticeship options may be available to you.

An Apprenticeship is one of the most popular ways to get into the accounting industry.

Accountants are responsible for the financial aspect of businesses of all sizes and are relied upon to provide an accurate financial picture of a company.

Apprentices in this industry will be working alongside experienced teams to gain their knowledge as well as attending day release in college.

Learners completing these qualifications need to be good with figures, IT literate and be
able to communicate clearly.

Studied – AAT Level 4 in Professional Accounting

Currently – Assistant Accountant at an accounting practice

“I studied for an AAT Apprenticeship because I completed an A Level in Accounting and have always been interested in working in the finance sector.

“I learnt about bookkeeping, Sage, and spreadsheet software and how to balance bank statements. We have also covered journals, credit control and financial statements which are really useful in my job role.

“This course has helped me to improve my skills in accounting so much and has added value to my career.

“I want to thank my work based learning practitioner Lynn Jones and tutor Debbie Meredith for encouraging me throughout my studying and to complete the exams.”

Studied – AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting

Currently – Accounts Administrator

I studied the three levels of the AAT Accountancy Apprenticeship at Coleg Cambria, the most recent being the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting.

I decided to study AAT after I had started my first job, where my role was office administration and accounts. I found that I really enjoyed the accountancy aspects of my role and wanted to be able to better understand the work I was doing, and develop new skills.

I have learnt a lot over my three years of study including how to write up accounts, software work and more advanced accounting skills.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course, especially as it was classroom based. I enjoyed being part of the classroom environment with like-minded learners, feeling able to ask any questions I needed. If someone didn’t quite understand a topic, our tutor would try a different method of explaining it, to help us fully understand each unit.

If you enjoy accountancy and would like to develop your skills and gain a qualification at the end of it, I would highly recommend this course.

Studied – AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting Apprenticeship

Currently – AB Accountancy

I really like the support I received while studying at Cambria, having the regular meetings with my work based learning practitioner Lynn was great and the overall care and support that the college gives to their students was really helpful.

My hopes for the future are to complete level 4 AAT and then I am hoping that this will put me in good stead should I choose to do any further studies.

The award I have received was such a nice award to get. The accountancy course is not an easy option for me and I have had to work very hard to get the results that I have achieved. To receive this award proves to me that hard work is recognised and does pay off.
