They will be held in person at the following college sites:
Deeside – Monday January 22 from 4pm-7pm.
Yale, Wrexham – Tuesday January 23 from 4pm-7pm.
Bersham Road, Wrexham – Tuesday January 23 from 4pm-7pm.
The college, also based in Northop and Llysfasi, is hoping to attract people looking to re-educate themselves and learn new skills, those planning a change of career, a new hobby, or looking to progress in their current job.
Principal Sue Price said: “The events are a platform for adults across the region and beyond to broaden their horizons and explore the many opportunities available at Coleg Cambria, from apprenticeships to essential skills courses, HE programmes and more.
“We offer many free and flexible courses tailored to a cross-section of industries, so there is something for everyone, wherever they see their future.”
She added: “Staff and lecturers will also be on hand to discuss fees and funding, help prospective learners apply to join us and – for those who meet the criteria – there is the option of a Personal Learning Account (PLA).”
A recent report by the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) found more than a third (35%) of job vacancies in Wales were hard to fill in 2022 due to the quality of applicants and skills shortages, affecting 10% of all businesses.
Over the course of six years, skills shortages have now more than doubled in Wales from 9,000 in 2017 to 20,600 in 2022, and employers are found to be spending 20% less on training per trainee.
In response, the CIPD in Wales has called for more interest in the uptake of apprenticeships, particularly for under 25s who represent less than 50% of enrolments compared to over 25s, and to boost the capacity of SMEs to engage with the apprenticeship system through enhanced and holistic business and people management support.
“There is a demand out there for skilled, educated and committed workers across the country, and we are here to help plug those gaps,” added Mrs Price.
“The open events will signpost those interested to courses and apprenticeships that could form the next exciting chapter of their lives and careers.”
