Meet our senior leadership team. Our leadership team is made up of our Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive – Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Chief Executive – People Experiences & Culture, Deputy Chief Executive – Principal and Senior Managers.
Together, they lead the college to achieve our strategic vision. They’re extremely passionate about the role of education, training and skills as drivers of economic development and social justice in North East Wales.
Katie joined the College in 2004 and has worked in training and development for over 20 years. She has a wealth of experience within work-based learning and originally came from a private sector company working in learning and development across the UK.
Katie took over the management of the Health & Social Care team in 2016. She is a keen advocate of CPD and recognises staff to ensure they feel valued.
Kate joined the College in 2009 and now manages the work based learning teams in the Food Industry, Landbased industries and Customer Services.
Kate has extensive experience of leadership and management, previously having managed in customer facing corporate businesses.
Kate has a passion for supporting others and champions the support of mental health of staff and learners and a cross college trauma informed practise, achieving a Post Graduate Certificate in Trauma, Attachment and Mental Health in Young People and Adults and being an Ambassador of the BurntChef project, supporting the mental health of staff in the hospitality industry.
Jon joined the College in 2005 as a Catering & Hospitality Assessor. In 2016, Jon was promoted to manage the Work-based provision for Business Services. Jon has extensive experience of leadership and management having managed hotels and kitchen brigades as well as being ex-forces. Jon supports a person-centred approach with all of his staff and employers alike that delivers a high quality tailored approach to courses and relationships.
Jane joined Cambria in 2020 after holding a number of leadership positions in Further Education (FE) sector, including Director of Apprenticeships and Employer Engagement for a large college group in the North West and previously as Senior Section Head of MIS and Apprenticeship for a large FE college in the South West. Jane is experienced in developing large accounts, streamlining communication for clients and providing outstanding customer service both internally and externally.

Emma joined the College in April 2021. She has over 18 years experience in the Further Education sector having worked in Colleges in the North West of England. Emma has significant experience of leading and managing Higher Education within the Further Education sector, through this experience she has played an instrumental part in the expansion of this provision, whilst also maintaining high quality standards and excellent student achievement. Emma is committed to ensuring that strategies for widening access to Higher Education enable people, irrespective of their backgrounds to fulfil their potential, develop as global citizens and meet their life and career goals.
Miriam joined Coleg Cambria in June 2019 as the Head of Deeside 6th. Following a successful first year in post she was promoted to Assistant Principal of Academic Studies leading the Deeside 6th site and A Level provision. Previously, she worked in the secondary school sector as an Assistant Head of Sixth Form for over twelve years and also has over fourteen years experience as both a teacher and examiner of Psychology A Level.
Miriam specialises in developing innovative teaching & learning strategies as well as Student experience. Miriam also supports a variety of UK Sixth Forms and FE colleges on their journey towards excellence as a PIXL Consultant Associate. Mentoring Headteachers and members of SLT on their journey towards excellence.
Gareth Joined Cambria in 2019 following a successful number of years as Curriculum Director, Gareth was promoted to Assistant Principal of Academic Studies leading the Yale 6th site and A Level provision. Gareth has held leadership positions in both the state and independent sectors, leading the Marches School and Oswestry School’s sixth forms to success. He specialises in teaching and learning at A Level and is highly experienced in pastoral care. As the College ambassador for UniFrog, Gareth is committed to ensuring students fulfil their post-18 intentions.

Karl joined Coleg Cambria in June 2016. Prior to this, he worked for a college in Cheshire for 12 years as a Higher Education Manager. Karl’s expertise lies within construction and engineering and he has worked as a manager in these industry settings before transferring to FE. Karl holds a MSc in Construction Project Management and is in the final year of a PhD with Loughborough University.
Carl joined the College in August 2000 as a Lecturer in the Motor Vehicle department. In August 2015 he became the Curriculum Director for Engineering and Construction & in 2024 became the Assistant Principal of the Institute of Technology & Site Lead of Deeside. Carl works closely with industry across North Wales and in England to meet any training requirements. He prides himself on delivering excellent up to date training in all aspects of engineering and construction ensuring all learners have the best possible experience whilst at Coleg Cambria.
Nigel joined Coleg Cambria in 2013 as Deputy Director for the Computing Technologies area. Prior to this, he worked in Yale College’s Work-based Learning department, where he was responsible for IT Apprenticeships and IT training. Nigel is passionate about all things digital, and is currently responsible for providing training solutions for businesses, with an emphasis on digital technologies, engineering, and construction.

Nic joined the College in 2008 and has extensive experience of supporting learners with a range of complex barriers and needs in both Work-based Learning and Further Education. As Assistant Principal, she has a strong passion for ensuring that all learners regardless of their barriers and backgrounds are able to succeed and progress into higher level education, work or an Apprenticeship.
Alun demonstrates a broad range of leadership skills gained from significant management experience within commercial and FE sectors. He is an English graduate and completed his PGCE in 2010 whilst commencing his career in Further Education.
Alun joined Coleg Cambria in 2017 as Deputy Director for Skills from another Welsh college and has since progressed to the role of Assistant Principal for Skills, ESOL & Adult Learning. Focusing on skills development and learner progression, Alun is an advocate for equitable opportunities for all students at Coleg Cambria.
He is passionate about developing outcomes through transformational teaching and learning whilst improving the quality of learner experiences.

Elin joined Coleg Llysfasi in 1999 as a Business and Farm Management lecturer and recently worked successfully to ensure that the 2020 Estyn Learn Welsh inspection was granted an Excellent grading by inspectors. As head of Llysfasi, with a farming background and own farm business, she has first hand experience of the agricultural industry and its opportunities and challenges. A Masters degree in Education provides her with leadership skills which will ensure that Llysfasi remains innovative and sector leading in land based studies. A fluent Welsh speaker, she is passionate about ensuring that the education and ethos at Llysfasi shall reflect the culture and diversity of its students.
Martin joined the College in September 1998 as a Lecturer in English and Film. In 2012 he became an Assistant Director of Languages Media and Communication, until being appointed as Deputy Director of Curriculum in 2013 at the formation of Coleg Cambria. Specialising in the development and planning of curriculum, Martin was recently seconded to Welsh Government to advise on the Expressive Arts area of the new Welsh school curriculum.
Lisa Joined in October 2022, prior to this Lisa has 22 years FE experience in a variety of educational and quality roles. Specialising in embedding the wellbeing of learners alongside curriculum content. Lisa works closely with external stakeholders across the directorate in co-designing the curriculum offer to meet local and regional needs. Lisa is passionate about developing the skills and knowledge of all learners, both academically and culturally.
Leoma joined the College in September 2000 as an Equine Studies Lecturer. Prior to this, Leoma had developed a portfolio of industry and educational experience. In June 2014, Leoma progressed into a middle management role within the College’s land-based directorate, and led the successful move into technical qualifications. She is involved in land-based curriculum development through consultancy and membership of a steering group, and is an Estyn Peer Inspector.
