Accessibility

Coleg Cambria recognises the importance of providing a website that is accessible to all user groups.

We have implemented the following accessibility features on this website to make it easier to use for people with disabilities. Standards compliance outline how we measure our site’s accessibility. Please let us know if you have any questions or feedback regarding the accessibility of this site, or if you experience any difficulty using it.

Recite Me

Visitors to the our website may listen to the content by using Recite Me. Recite Me reads website content out loud in a high quality, human-sounding voice. Each word is highlighted as it is read aloud and the sentence is highlighted in a contrasting colour. This allows users to easily identify what text is being read aloud and navigate within and between web pages.

  • People with low literacy and reading skills
  • People for whom English is not their first language
  • People with dyslexia
  • People with a mild visual impairment

PDF’s

Visitors to the our website will encounter PDF documents that can be viewed in your browser or downloaded to be viewed offline. In order to view them offline, in most cases you will need to download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software.

Once the software is downloaded, you will be able to see all the PDF’s on our site without the need for being online.

Standards compliance
  • The pages on our website conform at a minimum to level A compliance as specified by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and endorsed by the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB). The majority of pages on our website meet level AA and AAA requirements.
  • All pages validate as XHTML 1 Transitional and use structured semantic markup. The CSS also validates.
  • We strive to obey the spirit of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) of 1995 (www.gov.uk/browse/disabilities) with respect to the provision of services online, as required by the Disability Rights Commission (DRC) (www.equalityhumanrights.com).

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible and we are working towards making our site AA compliant. Some issues that we have identified include:

  • Elements missing ARIA roles
  • Links that must have discernible text
  • Element that must meet the colour contrast ratio.
