Ellen O’Riordan
Studied – Level 2 & Level 3 Business Administration
Currently – Project Support Officer at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board
“When I started the Level 2 qualification I was working at Band 2 level within the NHS. Completing both Business Administration qualifications has allowed me to progress my career while still working in the NHS and I’m now working at a Band 4 level. Without these qualifications this wouldn’t have been possible as I wouldn’t have met the person specification criteria for my current position of Project Support Officer.
“In my recent interview one of the questions I was asked was what communication method I would use to engage with stakeholders. Having completed knowledge and evidence based units around communication in both the Level 2 & Level 3 I was able to deliver a well-structured answer at the interview.
“I had great support from my work based learning practitioner Sarah who helped me achieve the qualifications.”
Frankie McCamley
Studied – A Level English, Drama, Maths and French
Currently – Presenter and News Correspondent for the BBC
“I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do in the future, so I chose a range of different subjects to study at A Level. I’m now employed by the BBC as a Presenter and News Correspondent and studying at Yale Sixth gave me the confidence and skills to go onto university. I made some amazing friends, had some great teachers who I’ll never forget and had a great time in Wrexham!
“I look back on my time at Yale with pride and fondness and will never forget it!”

I think it’s brilliant to have the opportunity to do an apprenticeship as a mature person.”

How it Works
In Wales, Apprentices need to be 16+ and work a minimum of 16 hours per week to complete an Apprenticeship. The employer must be willing to support you in the Apprenticeship as you will be assessed in the workplace and may need to regularly attend college (this depends on the qualification) to learn new skills and complete any exams.
You will be assigned an industry experienced practitioner who will come into your workplace and set tasks for you to collect evidence which goes towards your qualification. They will also check on your wellbeing and ensure there are no issues or sign post you to additional support at Cambria if needed.
