About Apprenticeships
Why Choose An Apprenticeship?
Kickstart your career with an apprenticeship and earn as you learn.
Across North Wales and beyond, companies are recruiting for apprenticeships and training people in the skills they need to succeed in their career.
As an apprentice you will earn whilst you learn, gaining skills, knowledge, experience and recognised qualifications along the way. Whether you’re aged between 16 and 19 or 20 and over, a range of apprenticeship options may be available to you.
Digital Technologies is currently one of only a few subjects in Wales that you can do a degree apprenticeship in, this sector is growing rapidly and is always on the lookout for new talent!
Learners in this industry need a good eye for detail, the ability to adapt and work as part of a team.
These courses are assessed in the workplace by our industry served teams and can require day release to our Deeside or Yale college sites where learners will have access to state of the art facilities and technology to help their learning.

“I’ve learnt so much by completing this qualification, I have filled all the gaps of IT knowledge, especially about networks and networking.
“I’ve gained more skills, have been more professional, and even received a pay rise since I finished the qualification!”

My favourite thing about studying at Cambria as a work-based-learner is the ability to earn money and study at the same time, it also allows time for me to focus on all aspects of my life.
If you’re thinking about applying to Coleg Cambria make sure it’s a course you are interested in and passionate about because if you are passionate about something it makes studying 10x easier.
For the future I’m hoping to get a full-time job in Technical Support – my time at Cambria will help me with this as it’s given me the confidence to go for my dream which is working in the IT industry.
It feels amazing being a Student Awards winner as it was something I didn’t expect at all!

How it Works
In Wales, Apprentices need to be 16+ and work a minimum of 16 hours per week to complete an Apprenticeship. The employer must be willing to support you in the Apprenticeship as you will be assessed in the workplace and may need to regularly attend college (this depends on the qualification) to learn new skills and complete any exams.
You will be assigned an industry experienced practitioner who will come into your workplace and set tasks for you to collect evidence which goes towards your qualification. They will also check on your wellbeing and ensure there are no issues or sign post you to additional support at Cambria if needed.
