Why Choose An Apprenticeship?

Kickstart your career with an apprenticeship and earn as you learn.

Across North Wales and beyond, companies are recruiting for apprenticeships and training people in the skills they need to succeed in their career.

As an apprentice you will earn whilst you learn, gaining skills, knowledge, experience and recognised qualifications along the way. Whether you’re aged between 16 and 19 or 20 and over, a range of apprenticeship options may be available to you.

Jobs in this sector support teachers in primary and secondary schools to help pupils with their learning either one to one or in small groups.

Apprentices will work closely with teaching staff and parents to ensure pupils get the most out of their time in school.

Apprentices will spend time learning the core knowledge as well as being assessed in the workplace by our industry served assessing teams.

Learners in this industry will need lots of energy, patience and be able to work well as part of a team.

Studied – Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning

Currently – Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

“My course was Supporting Teaching and Learning Level 2 which I completed due to my goal of becoming a qualified teaching assistant. I learnt a lot about how to support children through their education and how to consistently provide them the best opportunities to succeed emotionally and academically.

“The qualification I achieved for completing the course coupled with the experience I gained through doing a placement in a primary school for the course enabled me to secure a permanent position as an Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant in a juniors school, which in turn now means I can progress onto studying for my level 3.

“My assessors throughout the whole course were absolutely amazing, immediately responsive whenever needed, friendly and encouraging, as well as always offering useful feedback. “

My favourite thing about studying as an apprentice is that I can gain experience within a field I enjoy, it gives you a real insight into the industry to help you decide on the next step of your career.

“After completing my Apprenticeship I hope to continue my studies and become a teacher, I believe that Cambria will help me achieve this by providing me with the stepping stones that I need to reach my goal.

“Before starting at Coleg Cambria I had previously completed most of my education in Welsh, being able to study my qualification in Welsh is really useful because I am already very used to specific terminology understanding it in English can get confusing.

“This year I also won a student award and I’m really pleased that my hard work is being recognised.”
