FORESTRY & THE COUNTRYSIDE

If you love nothing more than being in the great outdoors, standing under a canopy of trees or walking over a moss-covered woodland floor, then our Forestry programme is for you. We’re located in the beautiful Vale of Clwyd, the perfect natural setting for practical wildlife work.

Not only that, you’ll have the opportunity to study and work on a wide variety of habitats and sites including woodlands, heath and moorland, ranging from the coast right up to the mountain tops in your time at Coleg Cambria. Whether you want to work in conservation, rural and country estate management, forestry or anything in between, this is the place you want to study.

Studied – Level 3 Countryside Management

Currently – Conservation Operative at ELM Ltd

“I decided that I want my time and energy to be redirected and utilised towards a future more aligned with my perspective and aspirations. This course ticked all the boxes on paper and exceeded my expectations. Despite joining college at the height of the pandemic, the tutors still arranged as many practical sessions and trips as possible and it was during one of these sessions that I met my current employer.

“I have met many people in the industry and have tried to soak up the plethora of information and experiences shared by the tutors themselves and others along the way.

“Everyone that works with and at Llysfasi has created an open, supportive and wholesome environment for students to flourish in.”

“The academic work and practical work at Llysfasi fit well with real day-to-day work. I especially enjoyed the range of lessons and topics that were taught. The lecturers are highly experienced and knowledgeable having worked within different sectors all over the UK.

“Cambria offers a great introduction to the industry. Work experience will let you meet people behind the woodlands and forests in Britain and will give you a great pathway into University, employment or apprenticeships.

“The knowledge grounding received by my lecturers at Cambria has given me an excellent head start with my University course and the practical aspect of the Forestry course at Cambria. When not at university I work for myself as an arborist and woodland manager and for a skyline contracting team as a choker man, saw man, and skyline machine operator.”
