Jobs Growth Wales Plus

Jobs Growth Wales+ is a training and development programme for 16-19 year olds living in Wales. If you need help getting into work or further education, that’s what the Jobs Growth Wales+ is here for!

Do you want to secure an apprenticeship, a job, or maybe you just need support to get on to a full-time college course? We can help!

Our programme will help you to develop your personal skills and overcome barriers that may be preventing you from entering the world of work.

On the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme, you’ll improve your confidence, gain qualifications, focus on finding a career that’s right for you and improve your literacy and numeracy skills.

By the time the course has finished, you’ll have everything you need to start your career.

What you need to know

Jobs Growth Wales+ is for anyone between the age of 16 to 19, living in Wales, who isn’t in full-time education, training, or employment.

The programme is part of the Welsh Government’s Young Person’s Guarantee – to help young people in Wales to reach their full potential. So, whether you’ve just left school or college, you’re not quite feeling ready to get into the world of work, or you just need a helping hand getting started or finding a job, Jobs Growth Wales+ can help.

The support is free, so you don’t have to pay a penny.

In fact, you can get a training allowance of up to £42-£60 depending on your learning and development plan. If you get a job through the programme, you’ll earn a real wage paid at least at National Minimum Wage.

Yes. Jobs Growth Wales+ is a very flexible programme and is designed to support 16–19 year-olds regardless of ability, background or circumstances.

There is additional support for those who need it most to make sure they can participate. Contact Working Wales to discuss your circumstances and ask about the support on offer through Jobs Growth Wales+.

Find out how to contact them here https://workingwales.gov.wales/contact-us.

There are different strands of support available on the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme. If you’re not quite ready to follow a more intensive training and development programme, that’s fine.

You could start with the Engagement strand of Jobs Growth Wales+ because there are no minimum hours of attendance and support is tailored for your needs.

On other strands, the number of hours of attendance will also depend on your circumstances and can range from 16 hours to around 40 hours. Again, the number of hours you have to complete will depend on the package of support that’s right for you.

You’ll receive a wide range of free and flexible support, tailored to your individual needs.

The right level of support for you will be established at the start of the programme. You’ll then work with the staff to create your own ‘individual learning plan’ to help you get to where you want to be.

You’ll get a clear understanding of the opportunities available to you and will undertake various training and development activities to help you progress. Regular one-to-one mentoring and monthly reviews will help keep you on track, and you can make changes to your plan if you need to.

You’ll also get access to work trials and work placements, along with support to get into work and paid job opportunities so you can fast forward to the good bits.

To start things moving you can either complete the form below and a member of the College team will be back in touch with you or alternatively, you could call the team on 01978 267472

I was looking to further my next steps in my education without needing to do a full time course. The flexibility and support had me interested from the start. The course offered me opportunities in the world of employment and was the right course for me.

“Jobs Growth Wales+ is helping me stay motivated and to expand my Maths skills. The course is helping me to develop an idea of what I want to do in the future.
“If you are looking for extra support or just a boost of confidence, I would highly recommend this course.

“The staff are welcoming and the students are friendly, everyone gets on like a family and we would love to involve and have more people enjoy this experience.”

“I chose this course because it sounded exciting and there are individualised timetables which helped me work around sitting my Maths and English essential skills qualifications and the revision sessions.

“This course has helped me get back into a routine and motivated me to sit my Maths and English qualifications which I will need in the future. I have also learnt about the world of work and our British Values.

“When I joined this course I was made to feel welcomed and I have had opportunities to boost my skills.”
