Course Overview
This course will prepare you for work in the Health and Social Care sector.
You will study a range of topics to develop and demonstrate your knowledge, skills and understanding within the context of Health & Social Care services.
This includes current issues in relation to Health and Social Care, principles of care and safe practice, factors affecting individual growth and development and the impact on care and support needs, promoting rights, supporting individuals at risk and working within the Health Care sector.
There is a significant placement element attached to the course and you will be required to undertake a minimum of 100 hours in a relevant setting.

This course is assessed through internal assessment and external assessment which includes assignments and examinations.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths, English Language/Welsh (1st Language) and preferably Science, or successful completion of a relevant Level 2 qualification which includes;

● GCSE Health and Social Care, and Childcare
● Level 2 Health and Social Care: Core

Learners may progress directly into employment in a range of jobs, including HCA, Physio Aide, Project Worker, Ambulance Technician.
The qualification provides a suitable foundation for the study of health and social care through a range of higher education courses such as Social Work, Teaching, Health Promotion, Psychology, Physiotherapy, OT, Midwifery, Nursing and Radiography.
The Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 A-Levels and provides the necessary UCAS points for entry into Higher Education Vocational Programmes such as Social Work and Nursing.
The qualification provides a suitable foundation for the study of health and social care through a range of higher education courses such as Social Work, Teaching, Health Promotion, Psychology, Physiotherapy, OT, Midwifery, Nursing and Radiography.
