Course Overview
Want to become an MOT tester? You will study the following units:
* Safe working practices in the test centre
* Working relationships within the test centre
* Manage own professional development as an MOT Tester
* Carry out pre-test checks for a statutory periodic roadworthiness test
* Carry out a statutory periodic roadworthiness test
The course follows the latest DVSA- MOT tester training programme of study for classes of vehicle: 4 and 7 vehicles.
Each day the sessions of study will be a combination of classroom based activities followed by practical training.
Final assessment will include
1. Online testing
2. Observation of a vehicle test

Practical observation and computer based on-line testing
You will need to have an approved level 3 motor vehicle qualification, such as City & Guilds or IMI Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or a recognised Automotive level 3 apprenticeship.
For those who do not have a recognised level 3 qualification there are additional programs of study to support this. Guidance can be provided for this.
You will need to show that you have at least 4 years experience working within the automotive industry, which must be related to activities for vehicle MOT testing.
