Course Overview
The qualification covers the fundamental knowledge and understanding of the All Wales Induction Framework for Health and Social Care and reflects a range of different roles and settings.

The Level 2 Health and Social Care: Core qualification enables learners to develop knowledge and understanding:
● of the core principles and values which underpin Health and Social Care practice;
● of ways of working in the Health and Social Care sector;
● which informs effective practice within Health and Social Care;
● to support progression on to further study within Health and Social Care

To achieve this the learners must achieve the following five mandatory units:
● Unit 001 The principles and values of health and social care
● Unit 003 Health and well-being
● Unit 005 Professional practice as a health and social care worker
● 0Unit 06 Safeguarding individuals
● Unit 007 Health and safety in health and social care
The Level 2 Health and Social Care – Core – Adults is assessed through one externally set, externally marked multiple-choice test.
This qualification is suitable for learners who have achieved a Level 1 qualification or who have no previous knowledge of the Health and Social Care (Adults) Sectors – we would expect learners to have completed a workplace induction/probation before starting this course.
This qualification supports learners to progress into further study, including the following qualifications within the suite of Health and Social Care qualifications for Wales:
● Level 2 Health and Social Care: Practice (Adults)
● Level 3 Health and Social Care: Practice (Adults)

The qualification also supports opportunities into employment.
