City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Work-based Horticulture (Sports Turf - Groundsman)

They allow the learner to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the horticulture sector. This qualification is designed primarily for learners who wish to enhance their high occupational skills and good knowledge in a wide range of horticultural skills to confirm occupational competence in specific job roles including:
● Deputy rugby pitch groundsman
● Deputy football groundsman
● Deputy cricket groundsman
● Deputy race course groundsman

You can progress through the different levels and onto relevant apprenticeships

It is ideal for learners who carry out routine workplace tasks and who may use this qualification as a stepping stone to higher qualifications of this type.
The qualification covers skills from a wide range of areas where mandatory units consists of the following:
Maintain drainage systems, Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security of the workplace, Estimate and programme resource requirements, Manage your own resources, Set and mark out landscape sites to establish grassed and planted areas, Evaluate ground and environmental conditions to establish grassed and planted areas, Prepare sites for soft landscape establishment, Establish grass swards, Plan the maintenance, repair and renovation of sports turf areas, Plan and set out sports areas, Maintain irrigation systems, Manage information for action.

Optional units may include selection from some of the following units:

Learners will choose combined units to meet their learning and development needs. This qualification is a Diploma requiring achievement of 41 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 6 credits from the optional units.
