Course Overview

This higher apprenticeship programme offers a comprehensive package of qualifications designed for practising middle managers, in any workplace setting.

Candidates will gain a number of different but complimentary qualifications. The programme consists of:

• ILM Level 4 Diploma in Principles of Leadership and Management
• ILM Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Management
• Essential Skills Wales at Level 2 in Application of Number, Communication and ICT
• Employee Rights and Responsibilities

Indicative content and assessment method:

• Study Skills
• 8625-400 Understanding the Management Role to Improve Management Performance (2 days college attendance and written assignment)
• 8625-409 Managing Personal Development (1 day college attendance and written assignment)
• 8625-417 Managing and Implementing Change in the Workplace (4 days college attendance and written assignment)
• 8625-334 Understanding and Developing Relationships in the Workplace (1 day college attendance and written assignment)
• 8625-412 Managing Meetings (workplace assessment)
• 8625-403 Managing Risk in the Workplace (workplace assessment)
• 8625-406 Developing your Leadership Styles (workplace assessment)

All other aspects are assessed with you in the workplace.
In order to enrol on this programme, you must:

• Be employed in a suitable job role and must live or work in Wales
• Have a standard of literacy and numeracy – this is ascertained at sign up using a diagnostic questionnaire
• Be working in an appropriate role in order to be able to collect evidence.
• Have support from your employer for NVQ visits at your place of work.
The ILM Diploma in Principles of Leadership and Management qualification will be delivered mainly through college-attendance by day-release, for 8 days, and you will complete written assignments, set by ILM.

The remaining aspects will be delivered and assessed through one-to-one activities in the workplace with your allocated NVQ assessor.
You may wish to progress to study ILM Level 5 qualifications
This course is fully funded, on the understanding that all elements are completed within an 18 month timeframe.
