The Level 4 Preparing for Leadership and Management in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development qualification is evaluated through a blend of internal and external assessment methods, following a series of taught sessions at one of our sites. This course is designed for individuals who wish to advance their skills and knowledge in the field of childcare and education.

For the external assessment, learners are tasked with completing a project that comprises a series of activities centred around a proposed change to current practices within the childcare setting. This project allows learners to demonstrate their understanding of key concepts and their ability to apply them in a practical context.

Additionally, internal assessment tasks include a mix of oral and written responses. These tasks are designed to test learners’ communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and knowledge of relevant theories and practices in children’s care, play, learning, and development.

Overall, this course provides a comprehensive and thorough assessment of learners’ readiness for leadership and management roles in the children’s care sector. By successfully completing both internal and external assessments, learners can demonstrate their competency and readiness to take on greater responsibilities within the field.
This qualification is knowledge-based and is for experienced staff who wish to develop their leadership potential in order to progress to a leadership and management role within the Childcare sector.

Being knowledge based, learners can complete this qualification before they have attained a leadership role.

This qualification provides progression for learners who have completed the Level 3 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development (Practice), QCF Children’s Care, Learning and Development qualification or the Level 4 Professional Practice in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development.
The Level 4 Preparing for Leadership and Management in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development course is designed to equip individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to take on leadership roles within the field. This qualification serves as the first stepping stone towards becoming a successful leader in this sector.

Upon completion of this course, individuals can progress onto the Level 4 Professional Practice in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development with Specialism and eventually onto the Level 5 Leadership and Management of Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development: Practice, provided they are in a suitable job role.
