Course Overview
This qualification is for those working with clients in organisations which provide advice and guidance services on a professional or voluntary basis.

It is for anyone aged 18 or over who provides advice and guidance in a professional or voluntary role. You could be working in careers guidance, for a trade union, in a school, in local housing, human resources, third sector services, public services or in health and social care.

This level of qualification is ideal if your role involves providing specialist advice and guidance to clients; reporting to senior management and networking with associated services.

To earn this qualification, you must complete a range of mandatory and optional units, including:

● Manage Personal Caseload
● Support clients to make use of the advice and guidance service
● Liaising with other services
● Preparing and setting actions for clients
● Reviewing client progress
● Dealing with urgent situations
● Understanding legislation to adhere to
● PREVENT - 4 modules to be completed online including British Values, Staying safe online, what you can trust and radicalisation & extremism.

You can choose the qualification that demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you have developed, such as:

• Providing and maintaining information materials
• Interacting with clients using a range of media
• Enabling advice and guidance clients to access referral opportunities
• Understanding how to Support Specific Client Groups to Overcome Barriers to Learning, Training and Work

Induction for this course will be a 2 hour session which will include a pre course Questionnaire as well as enrolment and screening for levels of English, Maths and Digital Literacy.

Unit assessments: Each unit has guided learning hours of between 8 hours to 15 hours per unit. All units will be delivered in the workplace.
Support will be available on a structured basis in your workplace as well as in college on a flexible basis. Assessor support will also be available.

Essential Skills are a requirement with some funding options.

Your course will be evidenced and stored on an e-portfolio system called Smart Assessor.

Candidates must be working in a role which involves working with clients. The candidate’s role involves providing specialist advice and guidance to clients, reporting to senior management and networking with associated services, and managing, negotiating, training, evaluating and developing the service provision.
This qualification can help you to progress in a wide range of advice and guidance roles, including:

● Advisor
● Business link adviser
● Citizens Advice Bureau staff member
● Advice provider within educational institutions
● Counselling provider
● Training and human resources personnel
● Health and Social Care support advisor
● Housing Officer


If you’re committed to advancing your career, you may want to progress on to an additional qualification.

After completing the Level 3 you could take:
• Level 4 Diploma in Advice and Guidance
• Level 3/4/5 Coaching and Mentoring
