Course Overview

This qualification is designed for learners who wish to develop higher level occupational skills and knowledge in directing/managing the change processes and techniques that drive improvement and sustainability in food supply chain businesses.

The qualification confirms occupational competence in specific job roles including:
- Lean/Improvement Manager
- Food Preparation Manager/Consultant
- Food Processing and Manufacture Manager
- Food Sales and Service Manager
- Quality and Improvement Manager

The qualification covers skills and knowledge from a wide range of areas such as: identifying improvement priorities, leading improvement, developing excellence strategies, leading organisational change and managing risks.

Assessment

Open distance learning and work based assessment. Your College Work Based Learning Practitioner will visit the workplace which must comply with working in a safe environment.

Assessments will take place to assess competence over a period of time and underpinning knowledge.

Online support is available through a virtual learning environment.

Learning takes the form of a mixture of observations in the workplace, written and oral questioning supplemented by witness testimony, workplace documentation, photographic evidence and professional discussion.

Accreditation of prior learning is also considered, but this can be time bound.

Entry

Suitable learners of all ages are invited to join anytime of the year. It is essential you are currently employed in this area of learning and fully supported by your employer.

All applicants will undertake a thorough training needs analysis to ensure that the correct course and levels are chosen.

Career Options

The qualification is available within the Welsh Apprenticeship Framework In Food and Drink. Learners are also able to achieve this qualification outside of the apprenticeship framework. It can be used as a stepping stone to larger qualifications of this type. Please speak to your College Work Based Learning Practitioner to discuss options.
