Course Overview
This qualification is for those who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in order to understand and undertake effective mentoring in a range of situations. This qualification offers an opportunity to develop an understanding of the role and nature of mentoring, how to utilise mentoring skills to reflect on own performance and learn key listening and questioning techniques.
Learners will understand how to organise mentoring activities and plan for effective mentoring sessions. Activities will include reflection on own performance and define goals, progress and actions. This will also enable learners to gain skills and knowledge in order to develop effective mentoring practice in line within their own organisational role and responsibilities, developing a mentoring culture by introducing key mentoring skills and techniques.

Written assignment and learners are to identify a suitable mentee to work with in the workplace to gather their practical evidence which will involve producing records from the mentoring activity eg contract/s, planning documents, direct observation of the learner’s performance by their tutor, oral or written questioning, personal statements, feedback from the mentee, recorded supervision.
Centres must ensure that learners are in a position to meet the assessment demands of the qualification.
