Course Overview
This AGCO Diploma Training Scheme is a partnership between industry leader AGCO and agricultural engineering education specialists Coleg Cambria Llysfasi. This industry approved training is designed to allow young agricultural engineers to progress into positions within AGCO dealerships across the UK.

This qualification covers all of the skills, knowledge and understanding required in the land-based engineering industry. You will study a wide range of areas that include health and safety, calculations for service engineering and workshop processes. You will learn how to repair engines, vehicle systems, electric systems and hydraulic systems, test electronic systems. In addition you will learn how to repair mechanical power transmission systems, synchromesh transmissions and clutches, powershift transmissions and hydrostatic or hydro-mechanical (CVT) transmissions. You will also learn how to repair cultivation or drilling machinery, application machinery, forage harvesting machinery and combinable or root crop harvesting machinery.

The AGCO Diploma Training Scheme is an opportunity to “earn while you learn”. By successfully participating in an AGCO Diploma Training Scheme, you will achieve an industry approved qualification at the same time as gaining fantastic hands-on practical skills through a manufacturer backed scheme and earning a wage. AGCO’s Diploma Training Schemes have helped an overwhelming number of young people to join the land-based engineering sector in the UK.

The course is taught mainly through practical sessions in our sector leading workshop by AGCO trained lecturers and instructors, using the latest diagnostic equipment and machinery, tractor operation and field work, classroom activities, visits and guest speakers. You will learn using a variety of methods, including theory sessions, individual and group work and practical tasks.

The course Includes Manufacturer Technical Training at AGCO’s training academy.

Legislative qualifications could include, Tractor Driving, Telescopic Handler, Welding, ATV, Fork Lift Truck, Abrasive Wheels, Customer Care, Installation, Air Conditioning and Refrigerant Handling.
Assessment will take place continuously throughout the year, in the form of assignments, practical observations, small tests, examinations and a synoptic assessment.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English/Welsh (1st Language) and Maths or equivalent or Level 2 Diploma in Agricultural Engineering.

You must be working for an AGCO approved dealer (Massey Ferguson, Valtra or Fendt) as a Trainee Service Engineer.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
