You will gain this qualification through composition coursework, performance and a written examination at both AS & A2. Final grades are determined by marks awarded to your coursework, performance and the written exam.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language / Welsh (1st Language) and Maths plus meet the following criteria:
– Grade C/4 in GCSE Music, or Grade 5 Theory and that you are able to read music notation and have a pass at Grade 4 practical in at least one instrument.
Note: Where a student does not have paper qualifications they must meet the teacher to discuss. We are aware that some students will not have had the opportunity to complete GCSE Music prior to commencing their A levels. Students need to arrange to receive individual instrumental/vocal tuition as performance is an essential element of the course. The department may be able to assist in this.
At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
