Environmental Science - A Level

A variety of assessment methods are used throughout the course, with internal mock examinations in both years. External examinations are held at the end of the two year course in May/June. These are worth 100% of the total A Level (two papers worth 50% each).

5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) and Mathematics.

Note: Geography GCSE at grade C/4 or above is desirable.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.

Students who enjoy an interdisciplinary approach to learning and have a keen interest in the sustainability of our planet will find this new specification engaging and thought provoking.

Your interest in the environment could take you along a number of career paths, including: ecology, wildlife conservation, environmental impact assessment, aquaculture, local government, town planning and transport design.

If you choose to progress into higher education you will have opportunities to enter new fields such as ecotoxicology, climatology, geobiology or marine biology. Popular universities for young environmental scientists include: Liverpool, UEA (Norwich), Aberystwyth, Bangor, Swansea and Manchester.

Some courses may require equipment and/or uniforms to be purchased.
