Course Overview
The Diploma can be taken as a one year 90-credit Diploma or as a full two year Extended Diploma. The course is challenging, rewarding and enjoyable and offer a valuable experience for anyone with a keen interest and aptitude in this subject area.
The course is made up of a variety of units and you will develop skills through a range of activities to enable you to achieve these units. You will be working in a wide range of music technologies and gaining skills such as recording, music production, sound design, sequencing and music business. There will be opportunities to participate in public performances and events. You will participate in activities and educational visits to support your studies.
Essential Skills and Wider Skills are undertaken and are an important part of the programme.

Each unit is graded pass, merit or distinction and you will be are required to achieve a minimum of a pass grade in each unit to qualify for an overall qualification grade.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* – C including English Language and preferably a Music or IT GCSE, or the successful completion of a relevant Level 2 Diploma qualification awarded at Merit or Distinction level.
Level 3 Diplomas are valued by employers and in Higher Education. This course prepares you for employment in the Creative Industries, and application to university and onto courses such as music publishing, animation, broadcast engineering, film and TV sound and composing.
Full-time students are generally not required to pay course or examination fees. You will also be required to pay an educational visit and workshop fee.
