Course Overview
Students study units such as Technical Stage Operations, Lighting, Sound, Stage Management and Properties. In addition, they are required to study theatre administration units to further develop and broaden their skills. Students will also study other important elements of the performing arts including the Performing Arts Business and The Historical Context of Performance. Students work on all productions that take place in our custom built studio theatre and may also have the opportunity to work in other venues if required.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Students will complete qualifications for Essential Skills Wales and Wider Key Skills in addition to the Production Arts criteria.
Students study at least seventeen units over two years. There may also be the opportunity to take additional units during this time. Each unit is made up of Pass, Merit, and Distinction grading criteria. Students are given a number of practical and academic tasks and then assessed against the grading criteria.
4 GCSEs (grades A-C including English Language) or equivalent. Mature students are encouraged to apply. All applicants will be required to attend an interview.
Many successful students have progressed to various forms of Higher Education. Some have also gone on to work professionally within the Performing Arts Industry.
