Course Overview
This course is designed to provide an all-round introduction to the Travel and Tourism industry for those who wish to further their careers in one of its many connected occupational areas.
An example of units you could study as part of the course are:
• Tourism in the UK
• Airports and Airlines
• Understanding Specialist Tourism
• Introduction to Guided Tours
• Work experience in Travel and Tourism
(these units can be changed)
Within all of the units there are elements of developing customer service, marketing, business and also employment skills as well as gaining knowledge of specific jobs in the industry.
There is a compulsory work experience element to this course which supports the development of skills and knowledge required for the course and industry.
In addition to the Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism, the learning area programme consists of the following compulsory elements to the course:
● Essential Skills Wales training and assessments
● Development of Welsh language skills

There will be continuous assessment throughout the course using written and practical assignments, which will include presentations and role-plays.
Some units are internally assessed through written tests (maximum 25%).

4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including Maths and English Language/Welsh (1st Language), or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification.
