Course Overview
Step into Cambria is a course aimed at school leavers that takes place over 3 days per week and is available at our Wrexham and Flintshire campuses.
If you answer yes to some of these statements then this could be the right course for you:
● Not attended a mainstream school setting
● Been home schooled
● Not attended a mainstream setting and need to be eased into FE
● Not sat any exams
● Have very low-grade GCSEs
● Need support with Maths and English
● Struggle with anxiety and mental health
● Missed a lot of your education
● Struggle with busy classrooms
● Develop your confidence and self-esteem
● Unfocused on a career path
STEP into Cambria is a transition year and is designed to help you overcome your barriers to learning and develop the skills needed for the next steps in your learning journey, whether that be on to a higher level course, JGW+ programme or entering the workplace. The course is designed to encourage learning outside of the classroom, to help develop softer skills such as confidence, communication and teamwork. In the final term supported tasters will be offered in different vocational areas to help you decide on your sector of interest.

Each learner will complete the WEST diagnostic assessments for literacy and numeracy.

This is a transition course that helps you focus on what career path you want to follow next. During the last term, you will try tasters in different vocational areas so you can decide on your next steps.
Progression will be into either a higher level vocational course, a Job Growth Wales+ programme or employment.
