Course Overview
This is a City and Guilds course where you will gain the skills to become a Welder, Sheet Metal Worker or Fabricator. You will develop a range of skills in Metal Fabrication, Engineering Drawing and a range of Welding Techniques as well as Health & Safety.
Unit content may change to meet local industry needs.
Development of GCSE and or Literacy and Numeracy Skills.
Work Related Experience where opportunities are made available.
Learners who have not achieved grade C/4 in GCSE Mathematics and English/Welsh (1st Language) will be expected to attend sessions to support this in addition to their vocational programme.

The course requires continual assessment of College based assignments which will be collated as portfolio evidence to meet the requirements of the awarding body.

Successful completion of the Level 1 Diploma in Fabrication & Welding.
An increasing number of Employers in the Fabrication and Welding Industry now recognise the importance of relevant National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), Essential Skills, City and Guilds certificates as an essential feature of their skills training programmes.
Opportunities may exist to gain trainee Employment in any of the following trade disciplines: Sheet Metal Fabrication and Welding.
Following a successful first year of study, progression to the Fabrication and Welding industry or as an employed Foundation Apprentice.
Learners who gain employment may also, depending on conditions offered by their employers, have the opportunity to progress to Level 3 in Fabrication and Welding in the future.
Opportunities may exist to gain trainee Employment in any of the following trade disciplines: Sheet Metal Fabrication and Welding.
