Course Overview

This BA degree is delivered by Coleg Cambria. Throughout the 3-year degree, you will explore a diverse range of areas that are pivotal to children’s lives and be equipped with the skills and expertise necessary to work in a range of child-related professions. The course will provide you with a solid foundation of knowledge and understanding, along with critical and evaluative skills that employers are looking for.

There are opportunities to undertake placements in a childcare or education setting. This time in settings offers practical experiences of learning and care environments in addition to observing and interacting with children. This practical element is an important element of the course, allowing you to link theory with practice and enhance your professional skills.
96 UCAS points

Applicants who come from significant vocational experience but without the UCAS point requirement will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Police check is required. Please note that a DBS check is required to undertake placements. If you plan to carry out your placement(s) with your current place of work and already have a DBS check in place with them, you will be required to bring in your DBS certificate for vetting and you will need to allow us to record the DBS certificate number. If you plan to carry out your placement(s) in a setting for which you do not currently have a valid DBS check in place, you will be required to complete a DBS check via Coleg Cambria. Currently, the college pays for the cost of your DBS check. You will be required to bring in your DBS check for vetting and you will need to allow us to record the DBS certificate number.

The course material will be delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars, interactive tutorials, visiting speakers, and workshops. Audio recordings of lectures are made so you can listen again in your own time.

A variety of assessment techniques will allow you to play to your strengths. Assessments may include examinations, essays, projects, bibliographic exercises, evaluation of resources, posters, and presentations.
