Course Overview

Aimed at learners working in a range of roles in the Engineering and Manufacturing sector, this qualification could lead to employment in a number of sectors including Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering or Machining. This qualification is equivalent to an AS Level and is recognised as a Technical Certificate for an Engineering Modern Apprenticeship. This Award attracts up to 48 UCAS points.

Successful learners can progress to the second year of the program, with the potential to gain a BTEC Level 3 Diploma (up to 96 UCAS points) or an Extended Diploma (up to 144 UCAS points). This qualification could act as an excellent bridging course HE study such as a Higher National Certificate qualification (HNC) or a degree in Engineering.

You will study a range of topics that include:

• Mathematics for Engineers
• Mechanical Principles
• Electrical Principles
• Communications for Engineering Technicians
• Industrial Robot Technology
• Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace

Applicants should have 5 GCSEs at A* to C (or equivalent) or successful completion of a relevant Level 2 engineering qualification.

Assessment is continuous throughout the course and is conducted through the completion of regular set assignments and class tests.
Upon completion learners/apprentices could progress to a higher education course such as HNC (Electrical or Mechanical).
