Full Time, This is a one-year, full-time blended learning course, running from September to June (34 academic weeks). You’ll experience a dynamic learning approach with 50% face-to-face contact, held on campus on Thursdays between 9:15am-6:30pm. The remainder of your studies will be engaging online e-learning, giving you the flexibility to complete it at a time that suits your schedule during the week.

Effective personal time management is key to your success on this programme. Planning your online and independent study time will greatly support your learning journey!

Course Overview

What You'll Learn

The diploma aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed for university-level study and includes a variety of engaging subjects and essential core skills. You may explore modules such as:

* Understanding key healthcare principles: Explore subjects like Anatomy & Physiology and Sociology of Health.
* Developing vital study skills: Enhance your communication and study techniques for university-level learning.
* Real-world application: While a work placement isn't required, the course is designed to provide practical understanding.

You'll also develop crucial core skills, including:
* Communication
* Study Skills
* Numeracy

Your tutor will guide you on the specific modules relevant to your learning journey
GCSE grade C/4 in English/ Welsh (1st Language) or Maths, with at least grade D/3 in the other subject
or
Level 2 AON or Communication, with at least Level 1 in the other subject

However, we encourage adults with life and work experience to still apply even if they don’t have the above entry requirements as each learner application is assessed on an individual basis.

Experience in a suitable Health Care setting is advantageous but not essential.

Applicants should be 19+ to study this course.

You may be advised to enrol on the Preparation For Career and Study course or ESWS prior to starting the Access course. These programmes allow the opportunity to upskill in Application of Number and Communication Skills.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact individual universities for information about entry requirements.

The programme is achieved by continuous assessment, the majority of which is assignment work with some experience of timed tests or examination situations. Credits are achieved on satisfactory completion of each unit of study. To be awarded an Access to HE Diploma, 60 credits must be achieved, which include a number of mandatory credits. Level 3 credits are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. On successful completion of the full programme of study students are awarded the Agored Cymru ‘QAA – recognised’ Access to H.E. Diploma.
