Course Overview
In partnership with Wrexham University, our PCET programme delivered by Coleg Cambria, provides you with the skills and knowledge to be a teacher in this exciting field.
The experiences you will gain during the year undertaking your own teaching placement means that you can gain valuable teaching expertise, with the support of a mentor who can help you as you develop the skills and knowledge covered on the course, and to identify immediate links between the course content and your teaching practice.
The team pride themselves on offering innovative and creative teaching strategies, which take advantage of new technologies and approaches which are designed to give you the key skills for success when you complete your qualification.
We work closely with a wide range of businesses and agencies, to continue to develop additional
opportunities for each of our learners at all stages of this course.
Note: The PCET is focused on teaching within the post compulsory sector, therefore it does not lead to QTS which is a requirement to teach in school settings.
Professional Graduate Certification of Education (PGCE) PCET – Level 6
Note: The PGCE PCET is for graduates who wish to teach their degree subject or an area they are qualified in to Level 3 or above.
Professional Certificate in Education (PCE) PCET – Level 5
Note: The PCE PCET is for students who have a level 3 qualification in the area they wish to teach and industry experience.
Graduate students (studying the PGCE PCET at Level 6) and non graduate students (studying the PCE PCET at Level 5) will follow the same programme of study, however they will be assessed at the different levels.
Students can choose to study the PCET at either our Yale or Northop site. This can be completed either full time (1 year of study) or part time (2 years of study).
