Are you responsible for managing premises and events that fall within the scope of the enhanced duty requirements of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (commonly known as Martyn’s Law)? In the wake of the Manchester (UK) Arena attack in 2017 and with the 2025 Act having received Royal Assent, protective security and organisational preparedness is more critical than ever for businesses.
Health and safety professionals have skills that can support their organisations to comply with the new legislation when it comes into force. Martyn’s Law introduces familiar principles such as risk assessment, reasonable practicability, and coordinated action among duty holders, all areas where occupational safety and health (OSH) expertise is essential.
By investing in terrorism awareness training, organisations can strengthen their ability to protect communities, applying occupational safety and health principles to both prevent and respond to terrorist threats.
The NEBOSH National Certificate in Protecting Enhanced Duty Premises and Events from Terrorism is relevant to health and safety professionals and other workers who will be involved in managing premises and events that fall within the scope of enhanced duty requirements of the 2025 Act.
Enhanced tier premises and events refer to publicly accessible premises or events where it is reasonable to expect that 800 or more individuals may be present at the same time.
This qualification is not designed for security professionals or SHE practitioners with extensive operational experience of managing security and the threat of terrorism
