How To Apply
Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales
We’ll inspire you to achieve, no matter which A Levels you choose to study with us. In every classroom there’s an experienced and knowledgeable tutor who’ll give you confidence, relevant skills, and the motivation to achieve your full potential.
As a sixth form student at Coleg Cambria, you’ll also be valued as an individual and receive the care and support you need to secure your perfect career or higher education course. We have an outstanding reputation for student success for a reason.
In addition to the A level subjects you choose yourself, we will further support you to achieve your potential by enrolling you on the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales qualification which you will study as an additional A level and which will assist you to develop additional academic and employability skills.
To enrol on to an A level course you are required to have at least 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above including English/Welsh 1st language and maths. In addition, you will need to check the subject specific entry requirements in the course profiles below.
The majority of AS and A Level students are now timetabled for 4 days per week instead of 5 days per week.
The amount of lesson time devoted to each subject has not changed, but most students will find that they will be in lessons for most of the time they are onsite, having less free periods.
To be successful at A Levels it is vital that you devote significant amounts of time to studying outside of lessons and so you will need to carefully balance any other commitments you have – part time work or representative sport, for example – with the additional time you have to devote to studying for your subjects. A good “rule of thumb” is one hour of study outside of lesson for every hour of class.
If you make the decision to study an extra subject, it is highly likely that your timetable will cover 5 days.
Learners are always welcome to attend the College on the day that they are not timetabled to do so, this would be the perfect time to study outside of lessons or to seek further guidance from staff.
