If your young person would like to discuss their course choice, explore alternative options or find out more before starting college, our August Open Days are a great opportunity to speak with staff and get advice.

You can also attend if your young person is considering changing course or subject choices before enrolment.

Mid-August

Parents and learners will receive a welcome pack containing important information to help prepare for the start of college.

We recommend reading through the information together and keeping it somewhere safe for future reference.

Our live online onboarding events provide an opportunity to ask questions and find out more about starting college.

Week Commencing 1st September

Your young person’s induction will introduce them to college life, their course, support services and everything they need to know to get started.

Learners will receive their individual start date and induction information via email.

During their first week, learners will be introduced to their Progress Coach.

Progress Coaches play an important role in supporting learners throughout their time at college and can provide guidance on wellbeing, progression and personal development.

Freshers Fayres are a fantastic opportunity for learners to discover clubs, activities, enrichment opportunities and support services available across the college.

As your young person settles into college, they will begin to:

• Develop new friendships
• Build relationships with tutors and support staff
• Become familiar with college systems and routines
• Explore clubs, activities and enrichment opportunities
• Plan their future progression goals with their Progress Coach

Many learners quickly gain confidence and independence during this period, even if they feel nervous before they start.
