Duration | Part Time, 2 years – part time, day release Students on this course will be required to undertake periods of self study, additional to taught hours. This programme will be delivered through a combination of online and face to face sessions to suit your individual needs, subject to us being able to work within the Welsh Government guidance and legislation to ensure the safety of you and our staff. We will also continue to support those with additional learning needs remotely. Please note that where work placements are not able to be fulfilled for safety reasons we will adapt modules to include work related projects in a way that will still develop your work based skills. |

Course Overview
The HNC in Construction and the Built Environment (Civil Engineering) is offered at Cambria through a collaborative agreement with Pearson. The programme comprises of two years
part-time, day-release study and requires the completion of ten vocationally-specific modules.
The aim of the programme is to prepare students for a range of higher technical, professional and managerial careers in civil engineering by providing specialised studies which are relevant to
those vocations and professions within which students are employed or are seeking employment.
The programme has been structured so that students are able to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in their working life.
Teaching is by formal lectures, supported by laboratory work, materials testing, surveying fieldwork, field trips, site visits, drawing and design work.

Academic / Work Experience:
• Level 3 qualification (min. 120 credits / 720 GLH) in Construction / Civil or related area with Merit profile (MPP) – min. 64 UCAS points, OR
• A Levels with grades DDE (min. 64 UCAS points), OR
• Access to HE Certificate in a relevant field, OR
• 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience in a supervisory role.
Mathematics: GCSE Maths / Numeracy grade C / 4 or above (or equivalent)
Language Requirement:
• Capability at CEFR B2 or above in English / Welsh e.g.
• GCSE English / Welsh grade C / 4 or above,
• Level 2 Functional / Essential Skills,
• IELTS 5.5,
• PTE 51,
• TOEFL 72,
• Cambridge B2 First 160+
