Course Overview

Are you ready to take the next step towards your future? If you have a strong interest in finding a job and/or volunteering in your community, this one-year course is designed for you. You will build on your travel and self-advocacy skills while preparing for the exciting world of work.

This programme helps you grow in four key areas to help you succeed in life and work:

*Health and Wellbeing: Learn how to look after yourself and stay healthy.
*Employability: Develop the practical skills that employers are looking for.
*Independent Living Skills: Gain more confidence in managing your daily life.
*Community Inclusion: Discover how to take part and feel at home in your local area.

Explore Your Interests

You can choose from a variety of hands-on activities to find what you enjoy most:

*Caring for animals
*Retail Skills
*Car valeting
*Health and Beauty
*Catering and Hospitality
*Business and office
*Gardening and conservation

All new students participate in transition sessions and a comprehensive initial assessment to ensure the programme is personalised to their individual needs before progression.

Next steps: Completing this course opens doors to many exciting paths! You could move on to a Pre-Supported Internship/Supported Internship programme. This course also prepares you for:

*Paid employment
*Supported employment roles.
*Rewarding volunteer opportunities in your community
Most students will be working towards Entry ⅔.

All applications are considered individually, with offers made based on interview, prior achievements, and a support needs assessment. Applicants are invited to attend a taster session as part of the application process to help establish suitability, potential, and additional support requirements.

To access this programme, applicants will have an IDP/EHCP (Individual development plan or Education Health Care Plan) outlining their additional learning needs.
Each learner has an EHCP/IDP that outlines their personalised goals and targets. Learners receive regular 1:1 support from their personal tutor to review progress and ensure appropriate support is in place.

Individualised targets and outcomes are set to support progression towards long-term destinations, such as community-based opportunities or, where appropriate, progression onto the Towards Independence programme.
