Course Overview
The Level 3 Certificate Access to Aesthetics VTCT (ITEC) has been developed for qualified Beauty Therapists who wish to update their qualifications with the up & coming changes within the beauty/Aesthetics industry & to ensure the new guidance is met set out by Habia.
This qualification has been developed to help therapists who have completed a CPD or accredited pathway already within the industry and wish to have a regulated pathway for accessing aesthetic courses.
This course is also suitable for individuals with no previous experience or qualifications within the beauty industry but wish to progress in a career of aesthetics on to Level 4, 5, 6 & 7.
The course is also aimed at aesthetic practitioners with medical backgrounds such as, Phlebotomists, Dental Nurses, Paramedics, Medics etc and that do not possess any formal facial treatments qualification, or anatomy and physiology qualifications.
This course will also give you access to a range of level 4 advanced skin qualifications.
The course consist of five units which include:
- Skin analysis and facial skincare
- Consultation and client care
- Anatomy, physiology and pathology
- Electrical science
- Maintain health and safety in the salon.

Level 2 in Beauty Therapy would be advantageous but not essential.
UBT285 – Skin analysis and facial skincare – assessed with practical assessment, assignments evidencing knowledge learning outcomes & multiple choice theory exam.
UBT286 – Consultation and client care- assessed written assignments, consultation forms/techniques & multiple choice theory exam.
UBT287 – Anatomy, physiology and pathology – assessed in written assignments evidencing knowledge learning outcomes, class work completed & multiple choice theory exam.
UBT288 -Electrical science – assessed written assignments, Knowledge learning outcomes & multiple choice theory exam.
UBT289 – Maintain health and safety in the salon – assessed with written assignments evidencing knowledge learning outcomes & multiple choice theory exam.
UBT286 – Consultation and client care- assessed written assignments, consultation forms/techniques & multiple choice theory exam.
UBT287 – Anatomy, physiology and pathology – assessed in written assignments evidencing knowledge learning outcomes, class work completed & multiple choice theory exam.
UBT288 -Electrical science – assessed written assignments, Knowledge learning outcomes & multiple choice theory exam.
UBT289 – Maintain health and safety in the salon – assessed with written assignments evidencing knowledge learning outcomes & multiple choice theory exam.
Career Opportunities for this qualification include treatments within the aesthetics industry or continuing professional development onto level 4, 5, 6 & 7.
The primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for additional study at level 4+ in the beauty aesthetic industry. Achievement of this qualification will enable learners to further develop their knowledge and skills by completing additional specialist qualifications at Level 4 and 5, for example:
– VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Skin Peeling
– VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Skin Needling
– VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Ultrasound
– VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Dermaplaning
– VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Award in High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)
– VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Scalp Micropigmentation
– VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Aesthetic Treatments
The primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for additional study at level 4+ in the beauty aesthetic industry.
