Course Overview
Our Towards Independence programme is all about helping you grow your confidence and learn the skills you need to live a more independent life. You will learn in a friendly, supportive environment with small groups, making sure you get the right help and encouragement every step of the way.
This course focuses on practical learning to help you prepare for adult life. You will follow a fun and varied curriculum designed to help you thrive in your community.
During the course, you will work on:
*Independent living skills to help you manage daily tasks at home.
*Community inclusion so you feel confident exploring and using local services.
*Health and Wellbeing to help you look after yourself and stay active.
*Employability and Functional Skills to build a foundation for your future.
Before you start, you’ll take part in transition sessions and a supportive assessment to make sure the programme fits your needs.
Next Steps:This course is a great stepping stone! Once you complete the programme, you could:
*Progress onto our Preparation to Work programme.
*Move into supported or independent living.
*Access exciting community-based work opportunities.

Learners joining this programme will need to be developing early skills for independence . Most students will be working towards Entry 1/2 level.
All applications are considered individually, with offers made based on interview, prior achievements, and a support needs assessment. Applicants are invited to attend a taster session as part of the application process to help establish suitability, potential, and additional support requirements.
To access this programme, applicants will have an IDP/EHCP (Individual development plan or Education Health Care Plan) outlining their additional learning needs.
All applications are considered individually, with offers made based on interview, prior achievements, and a support needs assessment. Applicants are invited to attend a taster session as part of the application process to help establish suitability, potential, and additional support requirements.
To access this programme, applicants will have an IDP/EHCP (Individual development plan or Education Health Care Plan) outlining their additional learning needs.
Each learner has an EHCP/IDP that outlines their personalised goals and targets. Learners receive regular 1:1 support from their personal tutor to review progress and ensure appropriate support is in place.
Individualised targets and outcomes are set to support progression towards long-term destinations, such as community-based opportunities or, where appropriate, progression onto the Towards Independence programme
